START DATE: April 2023. Active day trip canoeing season is June-August, with limited hours in April, May, September, and October

PAY RATE: $18-20 per hour, 10-20 hours per week + commission for bookings

We are looking for someone to coordinate our Front Range day canoeing trips who values deep nature connection, serving diverse communities, and who loves being on the river more than anything else.

The River’s Path is a company with a vision: We are dedicated to personal transformation through deep nature connection experiences. We are a woman owned canoe outfitter based in Berthod, Colorado. We facilitate half day and full day river trips east of Longmont Colorado and week long transformational canoe retreats near Moab in the canyons of Utah.

*Season begins April 18 and ends approximately October 20, with 10-20 hours per week. More hours may be possible during busy seasons.  Must be able to commit to availability from 7:30am-3:00pm daily, and until 4:30pm for full day canoe trips. Some out of state travel may be required.

JOB SUMMARY STATEMENT:

The Day trip coordinator will take the lead on the future of the day trips that the River’s Path offers. They will work with the founder of The River’s Path to build the vision for this portion of The River’s Path’s offerings, and their primary role will be to manifest this vision. This includes: marketing, communication, promotion, and day-to-day management of half and full day canoeing trips on the St Vrain River east of Longmont, Colorado. This position can be combined with a part time guiding position for day trips on the St. Vrain River.

The right candidate is passionate about rivers and nature based healing practices. We are looking for someone who wants to be a part of The River’s Path for the long haul.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
may include but not limited to:

  • Day trip coordinator will be the primary contact for planning and booking half and full day canoe trips, scheduling, handling phone calls, emails, online chat requests, posting on social media and other tasks as assigned
  • Comfortable managing a sometimes complicated schedule of river trips.
  • Manage The River’s Path’s social media, posting regularly on instagram and facebook.
  • Write blog posts, create memes, create newsletters.
  • Promote TRP via web, social media, and word of mouth.
  • Learn and utilize the booking system (Peek Pro) to schedule clients
  • Communicate with guides to staff trips with a 1:5 guide to participant ratio
  • Community networking and promotion of canoe trips to local groups and businesses
  • Other administrative assistance as needed
  • Manage unexpected situations on the river: safety considerations, accidents,  interpersonal challenges, and changing weather conditions
  • Shuttle clients in a 15 passenger van with a canoe trailer
  • Provide safety and canoe instruction to clients

REQUIREMENTS AND SPECIAL LICENSE(S)/CERTIFICATIONS:
Current driver’s license with clean driving record, Wilderness First Responder, CPR, Swiftwater Rescue,  500 river miles in accordance with Colorado State trip leader requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Skilled in social media management
  • Skilled in the use of Google Drive, Sheets,
  • Comfortable learning how to use Peek Pro, our booking system
  • Experienced in creating posts for marketing on facebook and instagram
  • Experience with mailchimp
  • Comfortable managing a complicated schedule of river trips
  • Management/supervision of guide team
  • Able to lift 80lb canoes with assistance
  • Comfortable driving a 15 passenger van with a canoe trailer (training provided)
  • Comfortable with collaboration and deep open communication
  • Wilderness First Responder, CPR, Swiftwater Rescue, Colorado assistant guide qualified with a minimum of 100 river miles of experience. 

PREFERRED:

  • BA/BS in Environmental Studies, psychology, biology, or related field
  • Social media marketing skills
  • Desire to be a river guide. Passion for being on the river and for offering therapeutic river experiences.
