We are looking for an extraordinary individual to help expand our fast growing team building offerings! We offer team building and organizational retreats by canoe, and we are ready to bring this offering to the next level.

The River’s Path is a company with a vision: We are dedicated to personal transformation through deep nature connection experiences. We are a woman owned transformational canoe retreat outfitter based in Berthoud, Colorado. We facilitate half day and full day canoe trips east of Longmont, Colorado and week long transformational canoe retreats near Moab in the canyons of Utah.

JOB SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The Team Building Director is responsible for marketing, coordinating logistics and facilitating corporate and organizational team building canoe trips on the St. Vrain River east of Longmont, Colorado.

They will be responsible for marketing and selling trips to community groups and corporations, and will collaborate with our team and our clients to build our corporate team building curriculum. Other duties and opportunities may arise as necessitated by business requirements.

The best candidate for this position must embrace The River’s Path’s (TRP) vision and mission and must have the experience and leadership skills to work with clientele and other staff from diverse cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds.

We are looking for someone to build the team building portion of our canoe day trip offerings. The ideal candidate has a passion for rivers, is trained in corporate team building, and has experience in marketing. We already offer canoe team building experiences but would like to expand this portion of our offer, and we need your help to make it happen!

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES may include but not limited to:

  • Works with TRP team to develop team building offerings.
  • Develops customized curriculum based on clients service needs.
  • Coordinates and facilitates canoe-based team building, and organizational development experiences.
  • Markets and sells team building canoe trips to groups and businesses.
  • Negotiates sales agreements in coordination with executive director/founder.
  • Acts as primary contact for corporate clients.
  • Contributes to our social media presence for The River’s Path on Facebook, Instagram and blog posts.
  • Coordinates with other guides to ensure a guide to participant ratio of 1:5.
  • Provide safety and canoe instruction to clients.
  • Manages unexpected situations on the river: safety considerations, accidents, interpersonal challenges, and changing weather conditions.
  • Reports to executive director founder.

REQUIREMENTS AND SPECIAL LICENSE(S)/CERTIFICATIONS: Current driver’s license with clean driving record, Wilderness First Responder, CPR, Swiftwater Rescue, minimum of 100 river miles of experience.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • BA/BS in Organizational Development, Business Management, or related field.
  • Experienced in corporate team building
  • Experienced in direct marketing and sales to small and large organizations and businesses.
  • River canoe experience (You don’t need to be an expert- we will train you!)
  • Vested in growing with a company
  • Skilled in Google Drive, Sheets, instagram, facebook, LinkedIn, CRM software, and comfortable learning how to use Peek Pro, our booking system.
  • Comfortable managing a complicated schedule of river trips.
  • Able to lift 80lb canoes with assistance
  • Comfortable driving a 15 passenger van with a canoe trailer (training will be provided)
  • Comfortable with collaboration and open communication
  • Passion for building strong teams
  • Must love rivers!

PREFERRED:

  • Expert river canoeist
  • Naturalist background

*Season begins April 18 and ends approximately October 20, with 5-20 hours per week. More hours may be possible during busy seasons. Must be able to commit to availability from 7:30am-3:00pm daily, and until 4:30pm for full day canoe trips. Some out of state travel may be required.
